She looks adorable in cozy pajamas ❤️
A few weeks ago, a sick dog arrived at an animal shelter in Texas. The puppy's skin was cracked and infected, and her body was covered in a strange purple substance.
As soon as the This Is Houston rescue team learned of the pup, they volunteered to care for her. They quickly transported her to an emergency vet, where she received life-saving care.
Veterinarians determined the purple substance was a disinfectant treatment typically used on cows and other farm animals. Her previous caregiver likely covered her in it in a desperate attempt to treat the mange.
When Bree, a dog mom who regularly fosters her own dogs, saw a photo of the puppy at her shelter, it deeply moved her.
"I don't know why, but I thought, 'I must be the foster mother of this dog,'" Bree, who preferred to withhold her last name, told The Dodo.
The dog, named Violet, was taken to Bree's home immediately after leaving the hospital. Bree did her best to make her as comfortable as possible.
"She was cold because she had no hair," Bree said. "So I put her in pajamas right away."
Wrapped in her comfy pajamas, Violet relaxed. She fell into a deep, peaceful sleep, exhausted by what she had just experienced.
Bree has cared for Violet around the clock for the past three weeks. She bathes Violet regularly with medicated bath salts, massages her entire body with coconut oil, and wraps her in her soft pajamas.
Thanks to the daily care, Violet looks like a completely different dog. The purple coloring is almost gone, and her fur is starting to grow back.
"She's feeling better, and she's definitely enjoying the pampering and attention now," Tara Hall, a board member of This Is Houston, told The Dodo.
Violet has undergone a physical, but also emotional, transformation. Her affectionate personality is evident as she enjoys spending time with her pit bull, Bree.
"I feel so much happier now," Bree said. "She loves cuddles... she cuddles like a little squirrel in my arms."
Although Violet needs to complete her recovery before moving to her forever home, she is available for adoption at any time. This sweet, one-and-a-half-year-old dog wants nothing more than a family to give her all the love she deserves.
